3Detailed description

This is the second version of the smallest ESP32 in the world (the first one is here).

This time I increased its size from 10 × 10 × 10 mm to 15 × 21 × 4 mm — but don’t get me wrong, it is still the smallest ESP32 ever, apart from my first version of course.

This time the circuit is made of 4 stacked PCBs instead of the 6 of the first version, and it has the following features:

  • Micro USB
  • DC-DC converter with current capacity up to 1 A
  • FTDI chip for USB-UART conversion
  • ESP32-PICO-D4 MCU
  • 4 buttons (1 reset + 3 multi-purpose)
  • 2.2 dBi antenna for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Connector for an external antenna, with signal pass-through
  • 16 pads at 2.54 mm pitch for GPIO / power
  • Temperature sensor
  • Air pressure sensor
  • Humidity sensor
  • Gas air-quality sensor (VOC)
  • 3-axis gyroscope and accelerometer
  • 64 × 32 OLED screen
